Frequently Asked Questions
Before making an application to us, it’s VERY IMPORTANT you read the following: WE ARE A SOLE AGENCY SO PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT WITH AN AGENCY OR ON THE UNDERSTANDING THAT YOU WILL LEAVE THEM IF ACCEPTED WITH US. Exceptions are we allow you to be with an adult model agency or extras agency and families we will consider non sole representation.
Most castings and jobs take place in London and usually with only twenty-four hours’ notice. If you live outside London area, please consider the amount of travelling and expense involved for you and your child.
Castings for school age kids are usually held after school, from 4 pm until around 5.30 – 6 pm.
For adults, castings can be anytime and you could be confirmed for a shoot the following day – it can happen!
If both parents work full-time, please consider who would be available to take your child to castings and jobs, and would they be happy to do this on a regular basis?
Shoots happen at all times of the year – in holidays and in school time. If you’re not happy for your child to miss any school, then this is not for you.
Babies are usually cast and shot during the day.
What happens next?
Once we have received your application we will have a look and get back to you within twenty-one working days.
What happens if we are accepted on to your books?
We will send you our acceptance form which we will ask you to complete and return. For children age 4+ we will also send you details of how to join Spotlight (see below). Once we have your completed forms and we have received payment for Spotlight we can start submitting you for jobs.
What is Spotlight?
Spotlight is a portal that connects professional performers with casting opportunities around the world. Performers on Spotlight are recognised by agents and casting professionals as the most talented in the industry. That’s why Spotlight is used every day by casting directors looking to find the best performers for their projects, and is a MUST for anyone aged 4+ who is serious about acting and modelling.
You can only join through an agent; it costs £98.00 a year plus our administration fee of £10.00 to complete your application and keep it updated throughout the year.
Can you guarantee us work?
Unfortunately, in this industry there are no guarantees and no agency can or should state this. However, we will put you forward to all assignments that you or your child meets the brief for.
Are there any upfront fees?
No, we do not charge any upfront fees. We do take fifty pounds (£50.00) administration fee which is deducted from your first job (many agencies do this).
How does the agency earn?
The agency earns from commission. We take commission from all fees earned but not travel expenses. For film, video corporate commercial and model work it is twenty-five percent (25%) and for theatre fifteen percent (15%). We are happy for you to source your own work unpaid or low-paid (maximum of £50 a day) however, for any modelling brands or actors briefs from Casting Directors themselves please check with us first that we haven’t already submitted you.
How soon will I be paid?
That depends on the client but generally 30-90 days after the job. Please note though that sometimes this can take longer
What does sole mean?
Sole means that you can only be represented by us as your agent. It means we will work with you exclusively and is what most Casting Directors favour because they know that the person submitted has only been submitted once and not by several different agencies that then becomes a fight as to which agency to go back to.
